Taïou is a French singer-songwriter, composer, and musician based in Paris. Born in Provence and raised in the Alps before moving to the Paris suburbs, his background reflects a life shaped by movement and travel. He began singing as a child and later became a self-taught guitarist, drawing early inspiration from folk and acoustic songwriting. His musical direction took shape through time spent in Brazil, where immersion in local culture and close listening to artists such as João Gilberto, Seu Jorge, and Gilberto Gil influenced his rhythmic approach and melodic phrasing. Taïou’s work blends bossa nova, indie-acoustic songwriting, and French variété, often rooted in personal experience, travel, and memory.

“Là-haut” (Up There) is an auto-biographical song about Taïou’s love for Brazil. “I feel so good up there / In the arms of the Corcovado / To the rhythm of João Gilberto / I left my metropolis that I loved so much / The café-bistro summer terraces / The flower gardens of Ménilmontant / I flew away / Up there are bandits and birds / People dancing in tank tops / On crowded beaches until late at night / I feel so good up there / Under the stars of Rio.”
