Composer and flutist Rão Kyao is one of Portugal’s most internationally respected musicians, known for blending fado, Portuguese folk, and global influences into a deeply personal sound. Beginning his career in jazz, he soon expanded into world music, embracing traditions from India, Africa, and the Middle East while retaining a strong Portuguese identity. Over the decades, he has released acclaimed albums, performing on prestigious stages worldwide. His mastery of bamboo flutes and his ability to fuse spiritual and cultural themes into music have made him a cultural ambassador, honored both at home & abroad. In 2021, he released Gandhi, a thematic album inspired by the life, philosophy & legacy of Mahatma Gandhi.
