Led by percussionist Steve Guasch and pianist Julio Jáuregui, the band Guaschará's musical style harkens back to the vibrant sounds of 70s salsa dura, while incorporating sophisticated arrangements infused with elements of jazz. Their 2009 album Influencias boasts collaborations with percussionist Paoli Mejias and flautist Jeremy De Jesus from Puerto Rico, alongside the musical talents of Venezuelan musicians Marcial Isturiz, Eliel Rivero, and Jose Soto Mortadelo.
