Based in Québec City, singer-songwriter Lauma is a graduate of l’École nationale de la chanson, a Canadian institution dedicated to training artists for the French-language music scene. She first gained wider attention with the 2019 single “Cœur de Miel,” which led to her 2020 EP Pixels, produced by Claude Bégin. After stepping away from recording to raise her two children, Lauma returned to songwriting in 2024, collaborating with Félix Pomerleau and Gabriel Arseneau of Quebec duo Tabac Carton. Her recent work draws on jazz phrasing, vintage French chanson and Brazilian flavors, continuing her focus on narrative songwriting and intimate vocal delivery.

“C’est ça c’est ça” (That’s it, that’s it), is smooth and light with a delicate vocal delivery that floats effortlessly over a gently swinging groove. Through poetic imagery, the Jazz World track explores themes of memory, fate, and the idea that even if two people can’t be together in reality, their connection lives on in dreams and unspoken moments: “It's been a long time since I tried to forget you / But all the songs bring me back to you / Your heart as pure as a flower, your soul as hollow as winter / My love, I won't forget you.”

“Porte 13” (Door 13), featured on Putumayo's French Bossa Nova, is a French-language bossa nova built around fleeting encounters, time passing, and love as a refuge. “On this rather gentle evening / The rain falls and foams / I hear Elisabeth,” she sings, “People all go to their addresses / There are tons of addresses / But in the end we knock / On that door so well hidden / Sheltered from storms / Elisabeth has her appointment / At door number thirteen / What we bring to that door / Is love, yes love.”
