Hakuna Patata is a musical project created by Belgian musician and producer Bart Petitjean, who has been active in music for over four decades. Drawing on his experiences as a record store employee, DJ, and world traveler, Bart developed a passion for blending global genres such as reggae, soukous, samba, cumbia, and African pop. Under various project names, he has released a dozen collaborative works, often produced in his home studio with guest vocalists and instrumentalists sourced via online platforms. Hakuna Patata marks his 10th collaboration with Kenyan singer Doroh and features Zimbabwean guitarist Ray S., continuing his approach of crafting instrumental foundations before layering in international contributions.

The track “Cheza Cheza”—which means “dance, dance” in Swahili—is an upbeat celebration of music, unity, and joyful release. Sung in Swahili and English, the lyrics encourage listeners to let go and enjoy the night. “Dance, dance, the night is ours / So much joy, let’s make some noise / Today is the day, no sleeping / We’ll enjoy ourselves until morning.”
