Bïa Krieger, who records under the name Bïa, is a Brazilian-born singer-songwriter based in Montréal. Since the late 1990s, she has built a body of work that moves fluidly between Brazilian songwriting traditions and French chanson, performing and recording in both Portuguese and French. Her music often favors intimacy, narrative clarity, and melodic restraint, drawing on acoustic arrangements and lyrical subtlety. Over the years, Bïa has become an important voice within Canada’s francophone music scene, while maintaining close artistic ties to Brazil and its musical heritage.

“Sans un mot” (Without a Word) is a French-language bossa nova featuring Brazilian musicians Rodrigo Simões and André Galamba that traces love’s quiet departures and unexpected returns. “Without a word / Without a forwarding address / With no hope and no distress / Without a farewell letter / Love is gone / Like a thief in the night / Like a dream we forget / As soon as we open our eyes / Without a word / Love has arrived / In my ruby heart / Turned my days upside down / And made its home in my life.”
