Born in Brasília, Vanessa Campos is a singer whose work blends reggae, ijexá, Bahian music, and contemporary MPB, reflecting the cultural diversity of Brazil’s capital. She debuted in May 2024 with the single “Sino” that combed the percussive energy of Bahian pagode with roots reggae. In October 2024 she released “Folha Seca,” a duet with the late Brazilian reggae vocalist Felipe Silva Zion, whose previously recorded voice was woven into the track. With only three singles released to date, Vanessa has built a sound that connects Afro-Brazilian spiritual traditions with contemporary production, earning recognition for performances marked by emotional depth and a warm, distinctive voice.

Produced by Brasília-based DJ Fábio ACM, “EsseA qui É Meu Mundo” (This Is My World) is a song of love and longing set to the rhythm of ijexá, the ceremonial beat associated with Candomblé devotion to Iemanjá. The narrator moves through a world of Afro-Brazilian spiritual figures, speaking to Iemanjá at the shore, Yara on the river, and receiving guidance from a caboclo spirit in the forest, all in pursuit of a beloved. “I spoke to Iemanjá, I told her a secret / I never stopped loving you / The strength of love is greater than the waves / I’ll never leave again, this is my world.”
