Formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1995, Tribo do Sol is one of Brazil’s most enduring roots reggae bands, blending Afro-Brazilian rhythms, spiritual reflection, and social consciousness into a unique and uplifting sound. Led by singer-songwriter Pedro Ivo, the group draws inspiration from reggae’s Jamaican pioneers—especially Bob Marley—while weaving in elements of MPB, samba-reggae, and traditional Bahian percussion. Now based in São Paulo, the band continues to evolve its message of peace, gratitude, and ecological awareness through powerful live performances and albums like Reggaeterapia (2010) and Cura Cura (2022).

“Presentes de Tupã” (Gifts of Tupã) is a heartfelt reminder of the sacred connection between humanity and nature. Sung in Portuguese, the song reflects on how modern society has lost touch with the origins of its food and the divine cycle that sustains life. Set to an earthy, melodic groove, it honors Tupã—theTupi-Guarani creator deity—as the giver of nature’s blessings and calls listeners to rediscover gratitude for the land, the seed, and the nourishment it provides. Through its message and rhythm alike, the song radiates the band’s guiding belief: that reggae is both therapy and prayer.
