Tribalian (Spain)

Tribalian is the musical project of Roger Martínez Pifarré, a drummer and percussionist based in Barcelona with more than a decade of experience in the Catalan music scene. His work centers on percussion, drawing from African, Middle Eastern, and Afro-Latin rhythmic traditions, which he combines with contemporary electronic production to create organic, trance-inducing grooves. For Tribalian, rhythm functions as a universal language and a bridge between cultures, connecting ancestral musical roots with modern sound. His output includes looped percussion improvisations and collaborative recordings, reflecting an ongoing exploration of rhythm as both a cultural connector and a means of collective engagement with music.

"Jardins" (Gardens) began as a first-take improvisation between Nasiri on oud and Tribalian on udu drum, later developed and finalized in a studio in Barcelona. Drawing on Middle Eastern and African melodic and rhythmic traditions, the song was recorded in a single take, with percussion, voice, and flute layered in afterward. Written and composed by Nasiri and Roger Martínez, it is presented as a celebration of the natural world and the rhythms of time.
