Tracundum is a band from Paraíba, in northeastern Brazil, formed in 2019 with the aim of creating axé music with a more compact and direct format. The group blends axé with reggae, rock, and electronic music, giving the guitar a prominent role alongside the percussive drive that defines Afro-Brazilian popular music. Based in the state capital João Pessoa, they have performed across Paraíba and earned notable opportunities including a slot at the João Pessoa Pre-New Year’s Eve celebrations and an opening set for Margareth Menezes, one of the defining figures of Afro-Bahian music and current Minister of Culture

of Brazil.

“Jacumã” takes its name from a beach town on the coast of Paraíba and captures the spirit of a night out that refuses to end. The lyrics give a nod to the saideira, a beloved Brazilian concept referring to the farewell drink at the end of a night, which in the song keeps getting pushed further and further into the future. “When I arrived in Jacumã / I went to the square to dance / It was 3 AM / I put on the reggae music / I promised I’d say it’s over / But the last one’s not done yet.”
