Tasuta N-Imal, whose name means “future generation” in Tamazight, comes from the south-eastern Anti-Atlas region of Morocco. The group began in 2008 when two brothers started performing together, later evolving into the full ensemble that took shape in 2014. Their music reflects a deep commitment to preserving and sharing Amazigh cultural heritage while opening it to global influences. The band blends regional sounds with elements of rock, blues, pop and desert rock. Even the band’s stage attire, based on the Aït Aata tribe’s traditional wardrobe, reflects a modern interpretation of local heritage. Through touring and recordings, Tasuta N-Imal has carried the spirit of the region to audiences far beyond Morocco.

“Izem” (Lion) celebrates strength, courage and identity while honoring the struggles of ancestors who shaped the land. The lyrics evoke movement through a mountain pass and the resilience it represents: “Lion, rise and walk toward the pass / Through the pass where our ancestors’ steps shaped the land / My brother, move forward through the pass that formed our homeland / Remember those who stood before us and faced hardship.”
