Siméo is a young French multi-instrumentalist and self-taught composer from the Ardèche region, shaped by a childhood among the mountains and rivers of southern France. His studies in cartography and ecology drew him deep into the wild landscapes of the French Alps, whose natural phenomena infuse his music with a vivid sense of place. Blending Latin and world grooves with dub, jazz, and electronic textures, he performs live as a DJ accompanied by guitar, clarinet, and friends on bass and other instruments, moving fluidly between meditative atmospheres and danceable energy.

“Retour d’Est” comes from Siméo’s album Nebbia, named for the dense fog that settles over the valley floors of the Queyras massif in the Alps. The song’s title refers to a powerful Alpine wind that heralds the arrival of heavy snowfall. Siméo’s guitar drives the track with a warm, rolling groove rooted in Latin and world influences, evoking the exhilarating energy of the mountain landscape he describes as singing and celebrating happy encounters. An accordion solo by Nathan Weber, a friend born and raised in these same mountains, adds rustic charm, while cowbells recorded in Weber’s own field open the track with an endearing touch of authentic Alpine life.
