Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca blend the vibrant sounds of Cuban and African music, creating an irresistible fusion of Congolese rumba, soukous, Cuban son, salsa, kizomba, and semba. Originally from M’Banza-Kongo, Angola, and raised in Congo-Kinshasa, Lemvo was introduced to Cuban music through his cousin’s extensive record collection. Although he moved to the U.S. to study law, music became his true calling. Since forming Makina Loca in 1990, he has toured worldwide, captivating audiences in Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Australia. His 1998 hit "Mambo Yo Yo" remains a dancefloor staple across the globe.

Originally from his 2014 Cumbancha release, La Rumba SoYo, and now featured on Putumayo's Jazz World, “Bolero Medley VF” is a lush and romantic jazz-infused bolero, featuring smooth, honeyed vocals over a rich, flowing arrangement. Blending classic compositions by Cuban songwriter Luis Marquetti and Congolese legend Franco, the song’s warm brass, gentle percussion and velvety guitar lines create a dreamy, nostalgic atmosphere, blending Latin American and African influences with effortless elegance. “Every time I tell you what I feel / You always tell me / Let’s see, let’s see / Maybe tomorrow you’ll get what you desire.”
Lemvo wrote the Groove Africa track,“Simone CM,” with Angolan musician Caló Pascoal as a tribute to the daughter of one of Lemvo’s Angolan friends. In this kizomba, a popular Angolan rhythm similar to Caribbean zouk, Lemvo sings in Portuguese and Lingala, “Oh, beautiful Simone. Lock me out of the house. Make me sleep on the sofa. I will still love you / O Simone my sweetheart / You are my trophy lady / You are pure gold, pure diamond.” The song originally appeared on Lemvo’s 2014 Cumbancha album La Rumba SoYo.
