Önnu Jónu Son is the stage name of Icelandic musician and creative Haraldur Thorleifsson. Active in Reykjavik’s music scene during the 1990s, he stepped away for many years to focus on recovery from alcoholism and to pursue a career in design, founding the acclaimed agency Ueno, which he later sold to Twitter. Returning to music after decades, he chose to perform under his mother’s name, honoring her memory as a source of strength against self-doubt. In addition to his artistic career, Thorleifsson has launched social initiatives like
Ramp Up Iceland, founded Hafnarhaus, a co-working space for creatives, and opened the cultural venue Anna Jóna. His wide-ranging contributions have earned him Iceland’s highest civilian honors, including the Order of the Falcon.

“Almost Over You” was included on his 2024 album The Radio Won’t Let Me Sleep. The song offers a hopeful reflection on renewal and resilience in the face of heartbreak. “40 days love, 40 nights / Since I held you closer / Close here in my arms / Feel it’s getting better / It’s coming on, I’m like a newborn baby / I’m almost over you.”
