From the lush island of Tanna in Vanuatu, an island country in Melanesia located in the South Pacific Ocean, Naio has been an important Pacific reggae group since the early 2000s. Inspired by pioneering local bands like Vatdoro and Huarere, the group has released seven albums and toured widely across the Pacific—from Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands to Australia and New Caledonia—earning a devoted following for their warm harmonies and positive energy

On “Good Vibez,” performed and recorded by band leader George Iaviniau in Port-Vila, Naio channels pure island sunshine through deep basslines, skanking guitars, and joyful lyrics that celebrate the simple pleasure of music: “Said I fee lgood, good, good and so fine / This music sounding good, everything is fine.” Later they sing, “Yes the music is lively, positive vibration,” an invitation to move, smile, and join in. Reggae has become one of the most beloved musical styles across the Pacific islands, where the genre’s easy groove, tropical roots, and messages of unity, peace, social justice and good times have found a natural home.
