Natalie Insoande

Guinea-Bissau

Natalie Insoandé was born in Lisbon in 1981 and moved to her parent’s homeland of Guinea-Bissau at the age of five. There, her passion for music emerged as she became immersed in the local culture. Her journey as a professional musician began when she returned to Lisbon and, encouraged by renowned Cabo Verdean musician Tito Paris, performed at B.Leza, a renowned African concert venue. In 2006, Natalie gained recognition by securing third place in the prestigious Portuguese Radio & Television song festival. Over the years, Insoande has lived and performed in the UK, Portugal and Guinea-Bissau.

“Bu Dur I Nha Dur” (Your Pain is My Pain) is the opening track of Insoande’s 2024 album "Guiné Amor," which was produced by Tito Paris. “Your pain is my pain,” she sings, “Your discontent is my concern, and your joy is my contentment / You are a star that no darkness can extinguish, moon, oh moon, that guides my soul / We spoke with the silence in our eyes, I read your thoughts / Woman, oh woman, you are like God to me.”
