Over the last decade, Mariaa Siga has dazzled audiences with her remarkable musical journey, spanning from the Casamance region of Senegal to Europe. Her rise to fame began with early artist competitions in Senegal and led her to prominent stages, including The Voice in France and the One Riddim Contest hosted by French reggae label Baco Records. Along the way, she garnered nominations for the Victoires du Reggae and reached the finals of the RFI Discovery Prize. Mariaa Siga's musical prowess shines brilliantly, as her captivating voice effortlessly navigates Diola rhythms, blues, folk-jazz, and even roots-reggae inspirations. Her versatile talent encompasses a wide range of world music genres, whether in acoustic or electric performances. With her deep and evocative vocal timbre, Mariaa Siga embodies the rich tradition of West African music, leaving an indelible mark on the global music scene. In recognition of her outstanding achievements, she was honored as the Female Artist of the Year at the Casamance Music Awards in 2023.

On the song “Ni Mama” (I’m Leaving) Siga sings about leaving behind your problems and looking for a better future elsewhere. “I'm leaving, I'm tired / I'm going to join the light at the end of the tunnel / There that I will emerge from the darkness / I'm leaving, I'm going to find my people / I'm no longer afraid now I know where my happiness is.”
