KOMASI

Chile / France / Burkina Faso

KOMASI is the collaboration between Koto Brawa of Burkina Faso, Simon Chenet of France and Chilean Mauricio Santana. Their music blends elements of Mandingo traditional music, Latin American cumbia, Afrobeat and other multicultural flavors that reflect each member’s diverse influences. Their 2021 album "Mezclatotäl," which they recorded in Paris, Cuba and Bobo-Dioulasso, weaves a rich tapestry of sounds from across the globe. KOMASI's second album, "Caïlcedrat," set for release on September 27, 2024, showcases the rock-Afro-Latin power trio's dynamic energy and passion. Their songs address themes of solidarity, unity, and the transformative power of shared experiences.

“Dunia” (World) features lyrics in Bambara, a West African language sung by Koto Brawa, and Spanish, performed by featured guest singer Yudelkis Lafuente of Havana, Cuba. The song seeks to remind us that money and possessions are not what really matters in life. “What you hold in your hand is not yours / What is in your house is not yours / Money cannot buy what is not yours / You cannot claim what is not yours / A lot of money / Little affection / Full pockets, but an empty heart.”
