Erbatur

Turkey / Germany

Born in 1974 in Konya, Turkey, Erbatur discovered his passion for music and songwriting at the tender age of 14, when he first picked up a guitar. His local performances quickly propelled him to be a recognizable figure in his hometown. Subsequently, in Istanbul, he co-founded the pop-punk band Zardanadam, which successfully released six albums and performed extensively. Throughout his time in Istanbul, Erbatur led a multifaceted life as an activist, academic, and musician until 2016, when he relocated to Germany due to political circumstances. Settling in Berlin, Erbatur continued his musical endeavors, establishing a record store and launching a music label.

Erbatur's song “Kadınım” (My Woman) reflects on a past relationship, touching on the complexities of love, longing, and the lingering emotions that persist even after a relationship has ended. “My woman, after the end, when memories get old and settle, hard to recall / Will you deceive yourself then, or will you be able to tell yourself / I loved you then, and I love you now / My woman, that’s after the end, but now it is still here standing in between.”
