Angam

Angam

France

Angam is a captivating world music ensemble based in Paris. Comprising five talented musicians from diverse backgrounds, Angam's music is an exquisite fusion of Maghreb and Eastern influences with Western musical elements, resulting in a unique and ever-evolving style that transports listeners to enchanting realms. The band's origins trace back to a serendipitous encounter between two exceptional musicians, Lakhdar Boussaf and Emmanuel Blanc.

Lakhdar Boussaf, a gifted singer-songwriter born in Oujda, Morocco, embarked on his musical journey at a young age, receiving comprehensive training that propelled him towards a successful career. At just 17, he formed his first band, Amjad, and earned top honors for his compositions at the Festival du Maroc Oriental. In the 1990s, Lakhdar moved to France, where he dedicated himself to bridging the musical divide between East and West.

Emmanuel Blanc, a composer, arranger and performer, hails from Montpellier, France. He first trained as a guitarist in Montpellier's pop music scene, followed by formal training at the Paris Conservatory. He has also lent his talents to composing music for cinematic scores. Drawn to world music as a medium for conveying timeless poetry, Emmanuel has also explored the creative fusion of Western and Eastern musical traditions.
