Kutcha Edwards is an acclaimed Aboriginal Australian singer songwriter and storyteller, a proud Mutti Mutti Songman born in Balranald, New South Wales in 1965. A survivor of the Stolen Generations, he was removed from his parents at 18 months old and spent years in government care before being reunited with family. Over a decades long career, including work with Blackfire, The Black Arm Band, and numerous solo albums, Edwards’ songs offer a deeply personal reflection on both the past and present, one that seeks to protect his family’s legacy and to share ancestral memory through voice and song.

“I Know Where I’m Going” originally appeared on his 2021 album Circling Time and calls for solidarity, the acknowledgement of past pain, and the intention to seek healing. “Stay beside me, help me through the night / What is our future, is it well in sight / Let’s stand together and unite / Tomorrow, will we ever be all right? / Go ahead, let the doubters have their say / Will you guide me, help me find a way? / We will overcome when skies are grey / For the sun will rise, bring a brand new day.”
