Kelady (Philippines / USA)

Kelady is a Filipino-American artist, vocalist and lyricist based in Los Angeles whose work blends poetic storytelling with genre-defying musical exploration. In collaboration with producer-bassist danyo (of Idesia), Kelady bridges alternative R&B, soul, hip-hop and diasporic pop, drawing on her musical and visual arts background. Her 2023 debut album BABAE (WOMAN) received critical attention from Bandcamp and The New York Times, and her earlier songs have appeared on Riot Games’ Valorant PLAY: NEON playlist and SiriusXM’s Asia Rising. With a lyrical voice rooted in heritage and imagination, she channels themes of identity, tenderness and empowerment across her growing body of work.

“Anak (Child of My Heart)” is an original lullaby-serenade that blends 1970s OPM (Original Pilipino Music) and harana guitar traditions with a diasporic, future-forward sensibility. Written in a sunlit park during the pandemic, the song was imagined as the theme for an indie animated series and voiced from the perspective of a loving grandmother. “Hold me, close / Until the night / We will stay together / Forever / Child of my heart.” With layered harmonies, warm guitar and intimate vocals, the song offers comfort, memory, and unconditional love wrapped in timeless sound.
