Haifa Kamal is a Jordanian singer and producer of Palestinian origin. She began studying Arabic singing at age six as the youngest member of her father’s band, Baladna, led by musician and composer Kamal Khalil. She earned a degree in mathematics from Zarqa University before completing a degree in Arabic singing at Jordan’s National Music Conservatory in 2011, later performing with the Amman Symphony Orchestra. Her work blends classical Arabic singing, Levantine heritage, and contemporary global sounds, as heard on projects such as Denya, #TheEDMProject, and A Córdoba, which earned two Global Music Awards in 2022. As she puts it, “Music has always been a language that transcends borders.”

“Ghanna El Hadi” (The Guide Sang) reinterprets a traditional Palestinian folk melody, with new lyrics by Hassan Soltan and arrangement by Rami Rais, continuing Kamal’s project of reviving Palestinian folk songs. The song follows a traveler carrying messages of memory and homeland to Palestine and Jerusalem. “The story of this homeland never dies, my children’s children will carry it / You who are going to Palestine, take a message from me / Pass through the Damascus Gate and know the history of generations.”
