Originally from Rome, Giacomo Lariccia has travelled the roads of Europe by every imaginable means, ultimately settling in Brussels for the past two decades. His first album, Spellbound, was released in 2008 and focused on jazz. He later became enamored with the Italian canzone and began writing lyrics in Italian. His albums as a storyteller include Colpo di Sole (2011), Sempre Avanti (2014), Ricostruire (2017) and Dieci (2023). He has toured extensively and has been a finalist for the Targhe Tenco award three times. The song “Fiore d’Invierno” (Winter Flower) is originally from Lariccia’s 2017 album Ricostruire. Singing along to an upbeat acoustic rhythm reminiscent of a Graceland-era Paul Simon song, Lariccia sings “Winter flower, flower that blooms / You are a violet that is not afraid of the rain / You grow hidden, far from the sun / You are precious and remain in the heart / Winter flower, courageous flower / May this life always be a beautiful game.”
