Front Country was an American roots ensemble formed in the San Francisco Bay Area and later based in Nashville, bringing together elements of bluegrass, folk, and contemporary Americana. Led by Melody Walker alongside Jacob Groopman and Adam Roszkiewicz, the group developed a sound that moved fluidly between traditional string band textures and modern songwriting. Their work highlighted strong vocal harmonies and inventive arrangements, reflecting a collaborative approach among multi-instrumentalists. Over time, the band evolved stylistically while maintaining ties to acoustic traditions. After several releases and years of touring, Front Country eventually disbanded, with its members continuing on separate musical paths.

“One Kind Word” is a reinterpretation of a song by The Honey Dewdrops, the duo of Kagey Parrish and Laura Wortman, centered on longing, simplicity, and emotional honesty. “My head is cold like my hands and feet / I’m looking around for something to eat / I’ve got time got nowhere to go / Broke down here close to the bone / I don’t want everything I see / I just want the little bit that you promised me / One kind word I’ve waited for / Just your love and nothing more."
