Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Emmano grew up immersed in music. His father, Vagner Beraldo, was the bassist and a founding member of the Bahian reggae band Água de Coco, and Emmano developed an early fluency with drums, bass, guitar, and voice. After years performing reggae, he felt a calling to use his music to spread the teachings of Umbanda, a uniquely Brazilian religion with deep African and indigenous roots. He has performed at iconic Riovenues including the Circo Voador, sharing the stage with acts such as Ponto de Equilíbrio and Braza, and has built a significant following as a digital influencer, with over ten million plays and 310,000 Instagram followers.

“Rainha do Mar” (Queen of the Sea) is a devotional tribute to Iemanjá, the Orixá of the sea in Candomblé and Umbanda, blending reggae rhythms with Afro-Brazilian percussion and the ceremonial greeting Odoya. Born on February 2nd, the date of Brazil’s most important Iemanjá celebration, Emmano brings a personal connection to the song’s themes of faith, protection, and surrender to the sea. “I surrender to your waters, I came to be blessed / Odoya, my mother / Teach me to navigate / On the nights of high tide / When the moon won’t come to guide me.”
