Eleazar Joshué (Venezuela)
Updated: 1 day ago

Venezuelan-born singer-songwriter and producer Eleazar Joshué learned the cuatro as a child, later moving to guitar and piano, and eventually became musical director at his family’s church. He studied at the Instituto Universitario de Estudios Musicales (IUDEM) in Caracas. Around 2007, Joshué moved to Ecuador to produce an album for a fellow Venezuelan artist. What began as a professional opportunity became a profound personal and artistic turning point, as migration reshaped his relationship with home, identity and belonging.

"Cervatilla Hermosa” (Beautiful Little Doe) is a merengue love song Joshué wrote for his wife, drawing on the image of a young deer to evoke her grace, tenderness and beauty. He produced the song himself, creating the brass, accordion and backing vocal arrangements and recording the backing vocals. The song appears on Más Allá de las Fronteras (Beyond the Borders), a 2026 album exploring Joshué’s experience of migration and the emotional, human and spiritual traces it leaves behind. Joshué sings, “Tell me, beautiful little doe, if you want to leap among the clouds / And in your curious gaze, see until there’s nothing more / Tell me, beautiful little doe, if I can rest upon your chest / If I can kiss your mouth and dance this merengue with you."
