Einangran is a duo formed during an extraordinary moment of global stillness. Heiðrik á Heygum and Lea Kampmann, two Faroese singer-songwriters, found themselves unexpectedly confined to the same apartment in Copenhagen when Denmark went into lockdown in March 2020. Both had been en route to separate international projects when the pandemic halted their plans. Instead of waiting passively, they began writing songs together in Faroese—a rare language spoken by only around 50,000 people. Their name, Einangran (meaning “isolation”), reflects both their circumstance and their inspiration. Drawing on their cultural roots in the Faroe Islands, they teamed up remotely with Iceland-based Faroese producers Janus Rasmussen (Kiasmos) and Sakaris Joensen to craft a haunting EP blending acoustic textures with ambient electronics.

“Vónin er” (Hope Is) explores emotional strength in uncertain times. Set against softly pulsing synths and picked acoustic guitar, the track unfolds as a meditation on trust, courage, and longing. “Hope is to be true / To the dreams / That dwell deep within me,” they sing. As the song gently builds, it becomes an invitation to find light through darkness: “Love be my shelter / When loneliness fills... / Love be my light.”
