“El Huevo o la Gallina” (The Egg or the Chicken) comes from Algo nuevo de ayer (2026), Díaz’s tribute to the tropical music of the 1940s and ‘50s, built on new songs by Piloto and nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Traditional Tropical Album. It features Puerto Rican pianist Marlow Rosado, whose album Retro (2012) won a Grammy for Best Tropical Latin Album. “If the chicken came from the egg / And the egg was laid by the chicken / Let’s see if someone can explain / This confusion, because I don’t understand.”
