Dani Cruz is a Brazilian singer and songwriter from Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, whose music blends samba, Brazilian popular music (MPB), and global influences. She emerged on the independent scene with early EPs that earned recognition such as the Prêmio Hangar de Música, and in 2025 released her first full album Canto de Sol. Her songs explore themes of love, memory, spirituality, and self-discovery, rooted in the rhythms of northeastern Brazil while reaching toward a broader global audience.

“Cheirando à Flor” (Smelling Like Flowers) reflects on heartbreak and renewal through imagery of seasons and blossoms. The lyrics recall a painful departure: “That day when you stomped out of here / Shouting / And you took my Saint George’s sword / Saying it was yours.” Yet the perspective shifts toward growth: “In every tear a leaf fell from you / Spring blossomed in me.” The chorus affirms a radiant presence: “My hair too smelling likeflowers / My thoughts too smelling like flowers / My song too smelling like flowers.” Combining symbolic language with Cruz’s expressive voice, the song conveys resilience and the affirmation of beauty after loss.
