His Groove World track “Fi La Bok” (I Belong Here) reflects resilience and unity in the face of hardships, emphasizing the importance of community and perseverance through struggles like hunger and adversity. It celebrates faith, mutual support, and a shared journey, highlighting the collective strength that sustains people even in difficult times. “I belong here / We all belong here together / Let’s stop fighting over trivial things.”
“Jant” (Sun), sung in Wolof, the most widely spoken language in Senegal, is a song that links love, desire, and emotional vulnerability with imagery of warmth and light. Wolof song traditions often blend poetic repetition with direct address, and “Jant,” featured on Putumayo's Love Songs Around the World, follows this approach in its expressions of longing and devotion. “Come closer and don’t be afraid / I carry you gently in my heart / My love follows you wherever you go / Stay with me until the sun rises.”
