Annie Baylis is a Cornish singer-songwriter whose work brings modern-day stories to timeless Celtic melodies, often described as “gentle protest songs.” She won the International Pan Celtic Song Contest in 2023 and was shortlisted for the Christian Raphel Prize while performing at the Cambridge Folk Festival in 2024. In 2025 she represented Cornwall in Celtic Odyssée, a touring show launched at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient that brings together artists from the Celtic nations, performing under the musical direction of Calum Stewart. Her debut album of original songs, Gift in Doubt, is expected in 2026.

“Oll An Dra” (Run the Show) is an original song written entirely in Cornish, a Celtic language spoken in Cornwall, the peninsula at the south western tip of Britain. Once thought extinct, Cornish has undergone a remarkable revival since the late 20th century and is now spoken by a growing community of enthusiasts and activists. The song is a defiant call for collective action against those in power: “If we stop they can’t start / We run the show and they know / If we don’t stop / We won’t know / How far it is they will go."
