Amadeus, born Saliou Samb in 1995 in Khombole, Senegal, is a singer and songwriter whose music blends contemporary sounds with Senegalese tradition. Raised on the music his mother played for him, he developed a deep appreciation for melody and lyricism at an early age. Inspired by artists like Youssou N’dour, Chris Brown, and Mozart—whose name he adopted—Amadeus began his career in a rap group before launching a solo path while studying at the Université Gaston Berger. His first viral success came with the 2020 single “Boul Ma Sagané,” which was followed by covers and original tracks that drew wide attention on social media and local radio. Combining modern melodies with “Ngéwel” vocal stylings, his work aims to bring the sound of the Walo region to both national and international audiences.

On “Fi Ba Leuz” (roughly, “Where the Truth Comes to Light”) Amadeus sings in Wolof about jealousy and betrayal. “Where the crowd is, I saw him with her / So many eyes were watching / He was sweet-talking my best friend / I turned around and saw it clearly / You knew she was my girlfriend / And you did it anyway.”
