Aluna Project is the duo of sisters Liane and Vera Dos Santos, born in Portugal and now based in southern France. With Angolan heritage and Lusophone roots, they combine ancestral memory with contemporary experience. Childhoods spent among pine forests and cicadas mixed with echoes of Angolan rhythms shaped their music, which blends folk, world, and ambient sounds. Liane plays guitar, cavaquinho, and charango, while Vera adds percussion, layered vocals, and recordings of natural elements. Their compositions are offered as acts of devotion, often dedicated to ancestors, spirits, or natural forces.

“Iré” (Good Fortune) is an invocation of life energy, in collaboration with the french multi-instrumentalist Hajna. The lyrics honor feminine spirits from Yoruba tradition: “I sing this song that stirs the rhythm / This body that moves when I sing / I feel this strength when I pray, Oxum hears the request when I ask.” The refrain calls to Oxum, Yemanjá, and Iansã—goddesses of water, motherhood, and winds: “With the sway of the ocean waves / Comes Mother Oxum and Mother Yemanjá / The two queens of Yoruba / Come into this world to teach us / To smile, to sing, and to dance."
