Adam Raad, who also goes by the stage name Humble Lion, was born in Saudi Arabia and raised in a family of Lebanese background in Abidjan, a city of over 6 million people in Côte d’Ivoire in West Africa. Raad discovered reggae in the early 90s in the vibrant clubs of his city’s Treichtown district, an area has been dubbed the “Trenchtown of Abidjan” because it is where international reggae icons such as Alpha Blondy, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Ismael Isaac and many others first got their start. Drawing on influences from soul, pop, and world music, Adam Raad has developed a style that blends West African warmth with the steady pulse of roots reggae.
