Captain Sparks & Royal Company is a French band led by the charismatic Antoine "Sparks" Rigaud, whose poetic storytelling weaves through original songs, creating a soundtrack that merges French chanson with urban and Latin vibes and hints of electronic music and jazzy brass. Rigaud’s journey began as a solo endeavor, but quickly evolved into a full-fledged crew that graces the stages of Normandy and beyond. The band creates musical experiences filled with nostalgia, hope, and the vibrant spirit of life. After the release of their debut EP Premieres Lignes (First Lines) in 2019, they released a second EP titled Objectif Lune (Objectif Moon), in 2023.

Featured Songs:

Their Global Beat track “La vie en rose” (not to be confused with the Edith Piaf classic of the same name), emphasizes the transient nature of life, urging listeners to cherish moments of joy, love, and beauty. “The most important thing is to get away from the daily grind / Working is good, but if you need to, go take a stroll,” Rigaud sings, “Somewhere else, maybe around the corner, there is always a garden, a little bit of love."

“Une blondinette” (A Little Blonde), from their 2024 album, Le Belle Image, and now featured on Putumayo Discovery's French Groove, paints a whimsical portrait of a young woman navigating life with grace, charm and independence. “She knows what she wants, but above all what she doesn’t want / Happy days snuggled in the arms / Of a handsome guy who tells her every day / ‘My love, I live only for you!’ / It must be said, she’s got a certain class / She stands tall on heels even in mud or on ice / Knows the best spots from bistros to palaces / A worldly woman—she embraces life.”
