Putumayo expands its book series with Morocco: A Cultural Journey, a companion to India: A Cultural Journey. Like its predecessor, Morocco combines photography, travelogue and cultural exploration to create a stunning look into this unique North African country.

With a population of 30 million, Morocco is a vibrant and diverse country. Rich in tradition, Moroccans maintain their ancestral roots while still contributing to the growing modern world around them.

Morocco gives readers a close look at the every day lives of the country’s people with chapters such as “In the Heat of the Souks,” “Flavors & Fragrances,” “The Call of the Muezzin” and “In the Medina.” Town shops bustle with vendors selling homemade goods and local delicacies while fishermen pull in their catches from the coastal waters of the Atlantic and Mediterranean oceans. Wool and cotton yarns soak in vats of dye as residents navigate their way through the labyrinthine maze of the medinas.

Morocco includes hundreds of striking photographs by acclaimed French photographers Cécile Tréal and Jean-Michel Ruiz and enthralling travel and cultural commentary by Marie-Pascale Rauzier, the author of several books on Morocco. A feast for the senses, Morocco is a country overflowing with vivid colors, sites, sounds and scents, from the majestic Atlas Mountains to the golden dunes of the Sahara, from the fragrant smell of the jasmine plant to the muezzin’s call to prayer. Readers are sure to enjoy this captivating journey through a fascinating country.
