Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca
Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ricardo Lemvo was fascinated by Cuban music at a young age. After moving to Los Angeles in 1972, he was determined to create a group that captured all of the elements of the African and Cuban music he loved, and in 1990 Makina Loca was born. Ricardo Lemvo and Makina Loca are dedicated to the integration of African styles like Congolese rumba and soukous with Cuban son montuno, Dominican merengue, Colombian cumbia and other Latin American dance forms. This fusion has enabled Lemvo to reach fans of both African and Latin music, and has made him a unique artist who crosses musical and cultural boundaries
