Licensing Putumayo Music for Film, Television and More

Are you looking for music to use in a film, TV show, commercial, theatrical trailer, video game or website? Putumayo World Music represents the Master and Publishing synchronization rights for many of the songs that appear on our CDs. Whether you need that hot Salsa track, sweet French chanson, carefree Brazilian bossa, or home-grown American blues or New Orleans tune – we’ll have it. We represent the synchronization rights of the best music from all corners of the world, and in all genres and styles.

Some of our Film and Television credits include Fool’s Gold, Ugly Betty, Sex and the City, Samantha Who, and House. Let us help you with your next project. If you’re interested in licensing one of our songs, or need song suggestions, please contact us at licensing@putumayo.com. But first check out some frequently asked questions below.

We look forward to working with you!

Do you represent synchronization rights for both the Master and Publishing (“Composition”) for all songs on your compilations?

For many songs, we are able to license “1-stop” – meaning we can license both rights! This makes licensing our songs a quick and efficient process – a must if you’re under a tight deadline. However, for some songs, we represent only the Master, or only the Publishing rights. Contact us if you’re interested in licensing a song, and if we’re unable to license one of the rights, we will do our best to help forward you on to who you need to talk to.

How can I search/listen to your catalog of music to find the perfect song?

Contact us and let us know what you’re looking for. We can send you song suggestions tailored to your needs.

How much does it cost to license a song from you?

We wish it could be as simple as stating a flat fee, however there are many variables we must take into consideration. For instance, we must consider the:

• song you want to use
• artist
• nature of your project
• rights you are requesting

Once you have found the song you want to license from us, we’ll email you a Quote Request form for you to fill out to get the ball rolling.

Please note we are unable to grant gratis synchronization rights for our songs.
